With the advent of the Nobel Corona virus pandemic, almost all the things have been disrupted very badly. Be it corporate, media, entertainment or the educational divisions all their activities have been coagulated. Taking into account the education sector, all the institutions have been asked to shut down till further orders from the government.
Dilemma…. Dilemma…..
Everybody is facing a state of dilemma of what is to be done and how can the necessary services be resumed taking into account the best and safest practices possible. Keeping in mind the action plan laid down by the government, the majority of communities have started to resume their services as much as they can.
The educational sectors have resumed their operations using the technical tool, cloud computing that is a cloud based online education system which comprises of a virtual classroom having the same number of candidates lead by their respective teachers. This has been made possible with the useful software applications like google meet and zoom. Such virtual classrooms have a unique id, shared with the students, which gives them access to the online classes.
Need of the Hour (Tick… Tock… Tick)
Almost all the institutions are shifting towards online classroom programs which has several benefits in the long run including infrastructure cost cutting, saving of energy and paper. Although, practical aspects of studies cannot be neglected as they are of utmost importance. Looking at the present situation, it’s the best thing we can indulge in.
The new dynamics of the education division comprises of –
virtual classroom programs
Online assignments
Online examinations
Group discussions
Webinars
Virtual conferences
Team building, motivational speeches, etc
The Flip Side of the Coin
This approach has many disadvantages as well, including maintaining decorum within the classroom during lectures, focus can’t be directed towards each student as there are no physical constraints, technical faults, the rate of retention of students is very less as compared to that of a real classroom. We know that change is the essence of life, when people say “things will never be the same,” they’re referring to something deeper, how we live—habits, norms, and ways of living. For parents, teachers, and students, it’s possible that some aspects of schooling might not go back to the way they were before.
Techniques and Technology
Some institutes have converted themselves into old-fashioned correspondence schools, with the majority of interaction happening by written mails. Others are juggling between, directing students to online tutoring and practice programs, and posting videos.
The course of learning and the way curriculum are taught are changing. Constraints that were once considered building blocks to education are being revised to accommodate life skills of the future.
Techniques like integrated learning and experiential learning, with wider implementation of technology, will drive the future of education in schools. Many feel that online education is not as easy as speaking into the microphone at one end, and connecting a laptop or phone and listening in on the other. There are many challenges with this medium of education which are faced at both ends of the spectrum. On the contrary, it will require lots of strategic development and planning in order to get the desired results and rectify problems for a valuable and feasible learning experience.
